This course covers OSHA policies, procedures, and standards, as well as general safety and health principles. Topics include scope and application of the OSHA general industry standards. Special emphasis is placed on those areas that are the most hazardous, using OSHA standards as a guide.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Describe specific requirements in the OSHA 29 CFR 1916 standards that protect workers from hazards associated with general industry
- Explain the processes and rules for OSHA inspections, citations and penalties
- Explain the basic OSHA record keeping requirements for injuries and illness
- Demonstrate the ability to navigate the OSHA standards, letters of interpretations and compliance directives in order to find answers to regulatory questions
This course is a prerequisite to the OSHA #501 Trainer Course. This course is also suitable for anyone that wants to gain knowledge regarding the content and scope of the 29CFR 1910 OSHA General Industry Regulations.
The registration fee for this course includes a printed copy of the 29CFR 1910 standard, various handout material, and electronic copies of selected presentation materials. The course is delivered in person using a combination of lectures, audio/visual presentations, group workshops, and hands-on demonstrations.
About the Instructor
Mr. Podojil has 41 years of experience in the Industrial Safety, Health and Environmental field. He is a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHCM), Certified Hazard Control Manager (CHCM), Registered Environmental Assessor (REA), Registered Environmental Professional (REP), Accredited Safety Auditor (ASA), a Certified Utility Safety Administrator (CUSA) and a Certified Professional Environmental Auditor (CPEA), Certified Homeland Security Manager--Level III (CHS - III).
Mr. Podojil has presented motivational and safety seminars for many Fortune 500 companies including the Boeing Company, General Electric International, Allied Signal, Lockheed-Martin Aerospace, Northrop Grumman, the Brady Corporation, as well as the Pacific Rim Safety Council, American Society of Safety Engineers, National Safety Council, Southwest Safety Council, Texas Safety Association, the University of Washington and Cornell University. He is a requested expert witness in safety and health matters representing legal organizations throughout the United States and Canada.
